History

Innovation as the power that drives us forward

Driven by continuous innovation and a clear vision to actively shape the industry, we’ve reached significant milestones over the past years.

  • 2025: Development of the noSho Tube – short for "no shoulder" – a groundbreaking solution that does away with conventional shoulders and caps, cuts plastic usage, and boosts production efficiency.

  • 2024: Collaboration with Origin Materials to develop the world’s first manufacturing system for PET caps – featuring the pioneering use of the roll-fold principle.

  • 2023: Launch of an ultra-lightweight tube (Fuji) that replaces multiple caps with a single solution.

  • 2023: Further development of PBL technology for improved recyclability.

Three brands united to form one strong entity

These years have been defined by collaboration. The move to our new headquarters, combined with the merger of three strong brands, reinforced our position as a full-service provider.

  • 2022 : Launch of the digital customer portal smartcube, providing access to all key production and service data.

  • 2021: Relocation to our modern headquarters in Rüti (Switzerland).

  • 2020 - 2021: The merger of Combitool AG, Texa AG, and Madag Printing Systems AG brings together their expertise to create PackSys Global AG – united under one roof.

  • 2021: Further development of our slitting and folding machines for tethered caps technologies to get ready for the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD), effective from July 3, 2024.

  • 2020: Introduction of the Fast PBL Kit – a smart upgrade that enables rapid changeover to PBL laminate tubes without compromising production speed.

  • 2019: Production launch of the Prestige 40 – the cosmetics market’s most versatile high-speed tube machine, featuring ultra-fast format part changeovers.

  • 2019: Sale of the aluminum lines business in Thailand.

Strategic partnerships that fueled our growth

Thanks to the integration of top Swiss machinery companies, we expanded our portfolio to include cutting-edge technologies. Being acquired by the Brückner Group marked a strategic milestone for us; one that fast-tracked our global expansion.

  • 2016: Introduction of the SHOT, the fastest laminate tube machine, capable of producing 500 tubes per minute – a technological breakthrough.

  • 2014: Acquisition of Combitool AG, experts in laminate and extruded tube machines with a strong focus on cosmetics. Founded in 1984 by Henry Ueberegger, the company contributed valuable expertise in the field of tool manufacturing.

  • 2014: Acquisition of Texa AG, specialists in machines and systems for packing and palletizing tubes, aerosol cans, and cartridges. Founded by Gottlieb Benz in the 1970s, with a focus on the precise handling of delicate packaging.

  • 2013: Acquisition of Madag Printing Systems AG, a pioneer in hot stamping technologies. Founder Xaver Stöckli played a key role in shaping the market with modular and modern machine designs.

  • 2011: Being acquired by the Brückner Group sustainably strengthened our position in the international market.

A new name takes the world markets by storm

The early 2000s were shaped by bold strategic decisions: By redefining our brand identity, we embarked on a new chapter of global expansion and diversification.

  • 2004: Company renamed to PackSys Global – a name derived from “Packaging Systems” that emphasizes our global focus.

  • 2003: Launch of the HPM product line featuring our patented Fix&Press technology. For the first time ever, the tube machine allows a full format part changeover in less than 10 minutes. More than 30 international delegations journey to witness the “Miracle of Rüti” firsthand.

  • 2002 - 2004: Laminate tubes is gaining traction in the Chinese market. The new high-speed header is becoming a best-seller in China. The company’s revenue triples, fueled by the booming business in China.

The Swiss spirit of invention becomes a global success story

The best ideas come to you in the shower. That’s how it all started for us: The story goes that company founder and brilliant inventor Karl Mägerle, fed up with the impracticable aluminum and cardboard tubes of his time, came up with the laminate tube. Under the name KMK Maschinen AG, machines for laminate and extruded tubes started being produced in 1969. The same spirit of innovation continues to define us today.

  • 2001: Relocation to the Joweid Center in Rüti to accommodate growing capacity demands.

  • 2001: Acquisition of Oberburg Engineering (CH), founded in 1838 as an iron foundry – expanding into machinery for ROPP aluminum caps, aluminum cans, and plastic caps.

  • 2001: Acquisition of Weinmann & Schneider WESCO (TH) to enhance our portfolio with complete lines for aluminum tubes and monoblock aluminum spray cans.

  • 1999: Introduction of the Inner Barrier Liner solution – the first cost-effective inline production of aroma, oxygen, and active ingredient barriers integrated directly into the tube shoulder.

  • 1992 - 1994: Development of the legendary Signaltube with its five stripes – a symbol of many childhoods.

  • 1984: After falling on hard times financially, a new investor paves the way for a future-focused growth strategy. The first machines are delivered to India.

  • 1969: Karl Mägerle founded Tubmatic AG in Uster (CH) and built the first semi-automatic tube machine there. The company relocated to Hinwil and was renamed KMK Maschinen AG soon afterwards – marking the launch of high-precision machines based on the compression molding principle.
